This four-hour online course details the structure, operation and functionality of residential water heaters. Participants will also obtain crucial information on federal energy standards and recent government mandates requiring the adoption of heat pump technology for residential units by 2029. 

The course explores key topics, including:

  • Types of units used in U.S. markets 
  • Water heater components and their functions 
  • Operating procedures for standard models 
  • Relevant plumbing regulations and resources 
  • Safety and maintenance best practices

There is no final exam for this course. The training is divided into sections, which conclude with a brief review question and the opportunity for students to revisit the material. Following the review, a section quiz will be given on the topics covered. The length of the quizzes will vary depending on the complexity of the associated content.
